Russell Hanlon deliberately scammed us.
Russell Hanlon told us we HAD to pay him EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS for an opinion letter. It sounded crazy to us so we kept refusing. We had held out for hours, but it was nearly midnight when we gave in. The next morning we knew we had been scammed, but he had the money and refused to return it.
We have NEVER SEEN THAT LETTER. Russell Hanlon showed up at the arbitration WITHOUT THE LETTER, and arrogantly announced that he never intended to bring it. In fact, he hadn't even written it. We demanded our money back, but he has refused to give us a cent.
Russell Hanlon knew he wouldn't be prosecuted or disbarred.
It couldn't be clearer that we were victims of fraud, but the Bar Association won't touch him, and we can't sue him for that much in Small Claims Court. Worst of all, the California legal system is so corrupt that Hanlon would win, no matter what we did, and since we live in another state, it would be hard for us to go that far, just to lose more money.
Hanlon wrote, "I will charge you $8,000 for the preparation of the opinion letter. ...and you are not obligated to pay me any compensation beyond $8,000 for the opinion letter and the fees..."
After Hanlon failed to write the letter, he had the arrogance to send a bill demanding another $800!
Then, two months later, Hanlon demanded $1800!
Absolutely nothing had happened between us after the arbitration, so this proves how arrogant lawyer are, and that they know they won't be prosecuted for scamming clients. We knew we had been scammed, wanted our money back, and never wanted to have anything to do with Hanlon again, yet he kept raising the amount of money he was demanding for a worthless letter which he still hadn't written, in violation of our contract.
We are convinced there couldn't be a clearer case of intentional fraud, but Hanlon is an attorney.
The Santa Clara Co., CA, district attorney, Dolores Carr, refused to even investigate this.
We filed a police report, but they ignored it.
If we take him to Small Claims Court, we expect him to lie about everything, like he lied to us, and no judge would dare to decide against him. Also, the maximum we could sue for is $7500 so Hanlon would still make $500 for victimizing us.
It's common knowledge that the Santa Clara Bar is a fraud, like all the others, financially paid for by lawyers, to protect lawyers.
THEY ALL DEFEND EACH OTHER TO PROTECT EACH OTHER FROM PROSECUTION. There's no way to break through the layers of corruption because the American people are content to let it continue.
The letter to the California State Bar Association said, “We were on the phone for a long time, late into the evening, because Hanlon was trying to tell us we absolutely needed to send him $8000 for an opinion letter that he would present at our arbitration on January 20. We thought the idea was crazy, but he convinced us that the other side would probably pay us money because his letter would be so good.
THIS IS WHY LAWYERS ARE SO CORRUPT - THEY'RE ABOVE THE LAW. Hanlon is a good example of how those who are alleged to be the best lawyers are the most corrupt.
At the arbitration…Hanlon …told us he never intended to present the letter at arbitration
We have repeatedly demanded a full refund because Hanlon defrauded us, and then violated the terms of the contract, but he has refused to refund anything. In addition, he later demanded another $1800 before he’d write the now-worthless letter.
He later wrote that he’d refund the money, but only if we hired him to do an appeal... I angrily told him that I’d never hire him for anything. In his March 11th email, page 2, he tries to scam us by saying the $8000 was just a deposit.”
THIS IS WHY LAWYERS ARE SO CORRUPT - THEY'RE ABOVE THE LAW. Hanlon is a good example of how those who are alleged to be the best lawyers are the most corrupt. Here's an example of how we're scammed by the entire legal system:
Martindale-Hubbell gives Hanlon the "highest possible rating", in spite of our complaint.
avvo.com rates him "superb".
Hanlon brags: "Super Lawyer in Appelllate Law, Northern California Super Lawyers magazine 2005-2008".
and, this is probably why the California Bar found that he did nothing wrong, "Certified Specialist in Appellate Law, State Bar of California"
and, "Director, Sixth District Appellate Program Board of Directors...2007-Present"
If ever there was a reason to prosecute lawyers, with no statute of limitations, Hanlon is it.
The only way the legal system can be cleaned up, and to avoid it becoming even more corrupt, is to prosecute past crimes with no statute of limitations to hide behind.
While the average person is jailed for the most minor offenses, the worst career criminals are prospering. The American people have to clean house before it all falls apart.

If you have information, or need someone to testify against Hanlon, email: email@example.com
* Most important: Email the San Jose PD and demand they take action so Hanlon can be prosecuted https://www.sjpd.org/_forms/contactform.asp
The message there is that, due to budget cutbacks, the public has to call: (408) 277 - 4521.
The American people are getting no respect from the government they finance, because they don't demand respect by fighting
back. The best way might be to send letters, so complaints are in writing. It's too easy for them to ignore phone calls, but letters
are proof of public demands: San Jose Police Department Report # 09-269-9507

Email the new district attorney, demanding that he prosecute Russell Hanlon:

We have to end the death penalty simply because America's legal system is so corrupt.
